Scheming (Part 1)
The person who originally posted an offer of five million for a set of Level 7 fruit was now facing ridicule from wealthier onlookers.
“That’s way too low! Does this price do the master any justice?”
“Exactly! This is Level 7 fruit, and you dare offer just five million? Shameful! If you don’t have the money, stop showing off!”
At this point, someone else posted a nine million per set offer, which Ye Mo quickly fulfilled. That price finally reflected the true value of her Level 7 fruit. As a result, the lowest posted price on the marketplace soon rose to nine million per set, and people started buying at this rate in droves. Ye Mo completed over a hundred orders before stopping, though some individuals continued seeking single fruits, posting offers as high as one million per fruit.
Ye Mo noticed that anyone willing to pay such a high price for just one fruit must be in urgent need. She fulfilled this request as well. The buyer, it turned out, was trying to save his father, whose genetic health score had fallen to a critical 9%. After eating one Level 7 fruit, his score increased by 15%, and the rate of genetic collapse slowed.
Excited by his discovery, the man shared it online, explaining that Level 7 fruit not only improved genetic health but also slowed genetic breakdown. This revelation led to a flood of public demands for Ye Mo to sell the fruits individually, even if at a higher price, as it would increase their chances of securing one.
After considering the requests, Ye Mo agreed. Although reproductive values were still significant, most people prioritized genetic health, especially when overall reproductive rates were still so low. Ye Mo had fifty sets of Level 7 fruit left, selling each at 90,000 per fruit after supplying fifty sets to General Mo for seven million per set.
By now, Ye Mo had lost track of her wealth. With billions of credits in her account, money had become just a game of numbers to her.
Meanwhile, Ye Mo received a message from Yu He, informing her that the principal at her school had given her another chance to return and resume her studies. Yu He argued that acquiring skills would ensure she wouldn’t be considered useless in the galaxy anymore, especially now that she was pregnant. Did she want her future child to see her as a failure?
Ye Mo smirked coldly. Was Yu He genuinely concerned? She didn’t believe it for a second. With a few quick taps on her wristwatch, Ye Mo hacked into Yu He’s private conversations, revealing a disturbing exchange between Yu He and another individual.
“If it is not you, it will be Yu Mo, you choose yourself.”
“Of course I choose Yu Mo. I agreed to help lure her out, but you need to guarantee my safety!
“Relax. You’re not that valuable without verification.”
“Just make sure you don’t target me afterward. I want my share of the money.” Yu He’s voice trembled with excitement. Seventy million credits were a life-changing sum for her.
“Don’t worry, we’re after the child, not the woman. And let’s be honest, you’re not that pretty anyway.”
Ye Mo’s eyes narrowed—Yu He was conspiring to sell her out. While the invading forces from other planets had been driven off by General Mo, local elites were still a threat. Furthermore, she suspected her biological father, former fiancé, and ex-uncle were all plotting against her, each eager to exploit her situation.
A concerned neighbor had once warned Grandma Yu about seeing Yu Fengqi, Zhang Yuming, and Fang Dawei scheming together, advising her to stay alert. This neighbor, who had purchased their family home, urged Grandma Yu not to return, as people across the community were eyeing Ye Mo’s child, not just her close family.
Grandma Yu, infuriated by the news, vowed never to support her son again. However, Yu He was now pushing her father to deceive Grandma Yu, betting that although Grandma Yu was indifferent toward her, she might still care about her son. Unbeknownst to Grandma Yu or her aunt, Yu He was stirring up more trouble. She saw betrayal as her only option.
After all, because of Ye Mo’s disappearance, she was being targeted by many people. when leaving the house meant harassment, and the promise of seventy million credits was too tempting to pass up.
Yu He’s plan involved luring Ye Mo out for the reward. She would keep twenty million for herself, while the remaining fifty million would go to her father, with her assured of a cut from his share. For Yu Fengqi, with his wife imprisoned and legal costs mounting, the fifty million would be a lifeline for him, who didn’t have much money at all.
By the way, after Yu He’s mother went to jail, Yu He didn’t show any signs of sadness, but now she is even thinking about how to plot against Yu Mo. This woman really deserves to be the heroine, she is cold-blooded and heartless to the extreme.
The day after Yu He’s proposal, Grandma Yu received distressing news: Yu Fengqi had been hit by a car while buying breakfast and was in critical condition at the hospital. The incident was no mere accident—Yu He’s accomplice had orchestrated it (the man was cruel enough when he hit Yu Fengqi half to death), knowing that endangering Yu Fengqi’s life was the most effective way to lure Ye Mo into the open.
Unfortunately for Yu He, she had no idea that Grandma Yu might not be able to let go of her son, Yu Fengqi, but Ye Mo really had no feelings for this father at all.
