Scheming (Part 4)
Ye Mo was puzzled, while at the same time, General Mo had already surrounded the hospital with his men. However, to his surprise, the other party had somehow gotten wind of his actions. By the time he arrived, Yu Fengqi and Yu He had been taken away, and most of the black-clad men had retreated. Though some were captured outside the hospital, no one could identify who these men worked for after questioning them.
The black-clad men had appeared suddenly and disappeared just as mysteriously. General Mo ordered his team to identify their faces, but none of them matched anyone from Kamo Star. This implied one of two things: if they weren’t external forces brought in from outside the planet, they were likely people who had been “erased” or were hiding their true identities.
Kamo Star, though seemingly backward, wasn’t as simple as it appeared. Most planets in the interstellar region had been invaded by aliens long ago, with only the most primitive and backward planets left untouched because they were the strongest, making the aliens dare not to cause interference. These planets had since declined, becoming relics of a powerful past.
Currently, there were no more alien invasions, thanks to the advanced technology and civilization they brought, which accelerated interstellar development and eliminated many obstacles. However, rapid development also led to widespread mutations across humans, animals, and plants. Food resources had dwindled drastically since the alien invasions, and without nutrient supplements, many of the original inhabitants of the interstellar region would likely have starved.
General Mo had only managed to capture some of the black-clad men outside the hospital, who turned out to be low-level operatives. Unfortunately, upon their capture, their life functions were immediately cut off by implanted chips. He realized he had underestimated Kamo Star, as chip-implanted operatives were typically found on more advanced planets and were rare in number. He wondered how Kamo Star had acquired so many of them and whether there was a hidden mastermind behind the scenes.
Despite his reluctance to act against fellow natives, as he himself was originally from this interstellar region and not an alien invader, General Mo sent his soldiers out to investigate. To his surprise, his investigations led him to discover Yu Mo’s residence, who was now going by her new identity, Ye Mo.
General Mo decided to keep Ye Mo’s address confidential, but he found himself strangely drawn to the area. He often landed his aircraft near her home, though Ye Mo had no idea that one of the many flying vehicles in her vicinity was there because of her.
General Mo had been keeping track of the time since he last saw Ye Mo—three months had passed. If she was indeed pregnant, the baby would be moving by now, and she should be due for a hospital check-up.
General Mo watched Ye Mo’s villa from a distance, noting that it was eerily quiet. The only movement came from a butler robot, and no one else had entered or exited the house. He remained on watch for about six days.
Finally, Ye Mo decided to leave the house. She estimated that she was about three months pregnant and had initially planned to get a check-up. However, considering the potential dangers, she decided to handle everything, including childbirth, at home. The reason for her outing today was that Yan Mingxiu had informed her that Yu Fengqi had gone missing.
Although Ye Mo hadn’t planned to search for Yu Fengqi, she noticed that Grandma Yu’s mood had been off lately, prompting her to investigate the hospital’s vicinity and see if she could use her magical powers to determine where Yu Fengqi and Yu He had been taken.
Ye Mo set off in her aircraft, unaware that General Mo had spotted her vehicle and recognized it. He initially thought it looked familiar but quickly dismissed the thought as it was a common, inexpensive model often used by many, including the transcendent plant master.
Following Ye Mo discreetly, General Mo watched as she conducted a tracking spell near the hospital. The spell pointed her towards a wealthy residential area, where she soon found herself outside a luxurious mansion. Signs indicated that Yu Fengqi was inside, Ye Mo directly used magic to trace the situation and soon saw circumstances inside the villa. He is currently in a treatment chamber and nearing recovery, it seems that he would regain consciousness soon.
Ye Mo wondered what Yu Fengqi would do upon waking. He had always been cold toward her original self, and even with his current scheme failing, there was no telling what he might try next.
As Ye Mo observed from a distance, she heard a commotion near the mansion’s gate. Yu He was shouting, “Let me out! You can’t imprison me!” Desperate and powerless, she struggled against the black-clad men guarding her.
Ye Mo, who enjoyed watching Yu He’s misery, watched from a hidden spot, safely away from the mansion’s line of sight. Meanwhile, General Mo, who had intended to scout ahead to observe her, unexpectedly found himself witnessing the argument between Yu He and the black-clad men.
Upon investigation, General Mo discovered that the mansion belonged to Prince Caser from the interstellar main planet, implying that the kidnappers were working for him. It seemed the Prince was seeking an heir, but he didn’t just want any child; he wanted Ye Mo herself, not the child she was carrying.
General Mo couldn’t quite pinpoint why, but the discovery filled him with anger, a deep-seated fury he couldn’t explain. Since meeting Ye Mo, he had felt an inexplicable attraction to her, as if something about her drew him in.
Now leaning back in his aircraft seat, General Mo was left conflicted, uncertain of his next move.
