Chapter 44: Jealousy?
“Did you get jealous, sister?”
Lin Lu puffed her cheeks and asked her, her eyes sparkling with cleverness.
Jiang Mingyue froze for a moment, then chuckled and said: “At such a young age, you can already tell if someone’s jealous?”
Lin Lu replied: “Of course, I’m really smart. Don’t worry, Brother Ah Ze can tell right away that he doesn’t like them, he only likes you.”
Jiang Mingyue really didn’t know how this little girl could understand such things. “Then you’ve misunderstood. I didn’t get jealous.”
Lin Lu didn’t believe her. She tilted her head and asked: “Then what were you looking at just now?”
“Brother Ah Ze is so handsome. How could I not take a look?” Jiang Mingyue added some drink to her cup and casually said: “Do you think Brother Ah Ze is good-looking?”
“Good-looking.” Lin Lu answered loudly: “Especially good-looking, the most handsome I’ve ever seen.”
“Great minds think alike!”
Jiang Mingyue gave her a high five to show her agreement. “Qi Ze is so outstanding, he should shine brightly.”
Qi Ze even looked good while grilling meat, so how could anyone not like him?
Jiang Mingyue sighed inwardly. At that moment, a tall boy holding a bottle of alcohol sat next to them and spoke to Jiang Mingyue.
“Would you like a drink?”
Jiang Mingyue now felt a bit hesitant about alcohol. She shook her head and said, “No, no need. To be honest, my tolerance is really bad. I just drank with a friend last night, and after a hangover, my head still feels a bit uncomfortable today.”
The boy didn’t push her. After chatting casually for a while, he stated his purpose and asked if they could add each other on WeChat.
Jiang Mingyue wasn’t really keen on adding him and was thinking about how to decline when Lin Lu’s crisp voice sounded.
“Big Brother Da Fei, sister can’t add your WeChat.” Lin Lu said seriously, holding her small face.
“Oh? Why can’t she add me?”
The boy named Da Fei asked curiously.
Jiang Mingyue was also a bit curious, wondering what Lin Lu would say.
“Because Sister Mingyue belongs to Brother Ah Ze. If you give her your WeChat, Brother Ah Ze will get jealous, and the consequences of jealousy are very serious.”
Lin Lu chirped brightly.
Jiang Mingyue’s face felt a bit warm. How did Lin Lu know everything?
The boy named Da Fei froze for a moment, then asked more curiously: “How serious could the consequences be?”
“Well…” Lin Lu frowned and thought for a moment, then became serious.
“Maybe we won’t get to eat Brother Ah Ze’s grilled meat again.”
The boy named Da Fei was amused by her cute response and glanced at Jiang Mingyue.
Since Lin Lu had already spoken on her behalf, Jiang Mingyue simply apologized to the boy.
Just then, Qi Ze walked over holding a skewer of grilled meat.
He rubbed Lin Lu’s head: “What else do you want me to grill for you as a reward?”
“Hey, for my little sister’s grilled meat, I’ll have to reluctantly not add you.” the boy said, taking a skewer of meat and walking away.
Lin Lu happily said: “Brother, I want another portion of grilled beef.”
“Sure.”
“I want grilled pork belly.” Jiang Mingyue said.
Qi Ze didn’t say anything. He turned around and went back to the grill without even looking at her.
Jealous?
She hadn’t even given him her WeChat.
Jiang Mingyue couldn’t help but move closer to him.
Qi Ze skillfully flipped the meat on the grill and carefully brushed on some sauce.
Jiang Mingyue asked: “Are you jealous?”
Qi Ze kept his head down, not looking at her. “A little.”
“I didn’t give it to him.” Jiang Mingyue said, sprinkling some chili on the meat.
Qi Ze placed a piece of pork belly on the grill and remained silent for a moment.
He then quietly said: “Someone else also asked me for my WeChat earlier.”
“Yeah, I saw that. You didn’t give it to her either.” Jiang Mingyue replied, but she had accidentally sprinkled too much chili, and some of it fell onto the charcoal.
“…So you’re not jealous at all?”
Qi Ze finally looked up, his expression a bit frustrated and unwilling.
His dark eyes trembled slightly, as if he was a little aggrieved. The area next to the grill was hot, and Qi Ze’s face was slightly flushed, looking a bit… endearing, making one want to tease him.
Jiang Mingyue had a mischievous thought.
She chuckled softly: “Not jealous at all.”
Qi Ze: “…”
Qi Ze was angry, and the consequences were serious.
He dropped what he was holding and grabbed Jiang Mingyue’s face with one hand.
Her soft, fair face felt delicate in his grip. Qi Ze unconsciously gave it a little squeeze.
Jiang Mingyue felt a bit of pain and tried to slap his hand away.
Qi Ze loosened his grip but didn’t let go. “Haven’t gotten it yet, and you don’t cherish it?”
Jiang Mingyue found his behavior a little funny. He looked somewhat cute, and she didn’t know why.
She freed her cheek from his hand, rubbed her face, and smiled: “It’s not that I’m not jealous. Actually, at the beginning, I did feel a little uncomfortable.”
Jiang Mingyue pinched her thumb and index finger together to demonstrate. (This level of gesture would probably break any foreign man’s defenses.)
Then she continued: “Actually, I noticed those girls looking at you from the moment we arrived. I even overheard them complimenting how handsome and charismatic you are, how great your cooking is, and how polite you are, even though you’re quiet. At that moment, I felt really annoyed and just wanted to cover you up so they couldn’t look at you.”
Upon hearing this, Qi Ze couldn’t help but smile, his lips curving up. He tried to straighten his expression. “So why aren’t you jealous anymore?”
“Then I saw that girl asking you for your WeChat, and you refused. That’s when I figured it out.”
“You’re so amazing, you should shine brightly. It’s inevitable that others will be attracted to you and praise you, and I should be happy for you.”
“If I were to get jealous, I’d be exhausted by now.”
“The most important thing is your attitude, not those girls.”
“Since you didn’t give it to them, I’m even less bothered.”
Qi Ze’s lips finally curved upward, but his gaze remained dark. “I’m not as magnanimous as you.”
Jiang Mingyue snorted and shamelessly said: “Then you’d better practice hard, because someone as beautiful, kind, and generous as me will have people asking for my WeChat quite often in the future.”
“Then I’ll lock you up.” Qi Ze said with a half-smile.

Jiang Mingyue: “…”
She had forgotten—Qi Ze was a bit of a yandere.
Jiang Mingyue felt a bit strange herself. She shamelessly asked: “So, when you lock me up, will I get a big house to live in, with food and drinks provided, where I can buy whatever I want, with a monthly allowance of a few million and no need to work?”
Qi Ze: “…”
What to do? He could never keep up with Jiang Mingyue’s pace because his skin wasn’t thick enough.
Shamelessness beats yandere.
The smell of burning food wafted through the air.
“Ah, my pork belly.”
Both of them suddenly remembered there was still meat on the grill. Jiang Mingyue reached out to turn the skewers, but Qi Ze quickly stopped her. “It’s hot, let me do it.”
“Okay, be careful.”
Jiang Mingyue stepped aside and stopped causing trouble.
The meat on the grill was no longer edible, so Qi Ze cleared it away and began grilling again.
Jiang Mingyue picked up a fan and stood beside him, fanning him. “Not angry anymore, right?”
Qi Ze snorted arrogantly.
Jiang Mingyue grinned cheekily. “Then make sure you grill the pork belly better for me, with a little extra chili, and grill some baby bok choy too.
