Chapter 96.2
Han Cheng wanted to take Su Xiaoxiao home and then go to the school to talk to Director Liu. However, Su Xiaoxiao felt much better after drinking some sugar water and insisted on going to the school herself.
Han Cheng accompanied Su Xiaoxiao to the office building. As they walked, Cheng Lifang, carrying a kettle, passed by and said, “Teacher Su, I’d like to talk to you.”
Cheng Lifang’s tone wasn’t exactly friendly, and there was a hint of stiffness, but she didn’t seem hostile.
Su Xiaoxiao asked, “What’s the matter? You can talk here.”
Cheng Lifang glanced at Su Xiaoxiao’s belly and asked directly, “Are you about to go on maternity leave?”
Su Xiaoxiao had no intention of hiding it and said, “Yes, I am. Is there something you need?”
Cheng Lifang took a deep breath and, gathering her courage, said, “Could you allow me to come back to teach Chinese?”
Su Xiaoxiao looked at her in surprise. Did she misunderstand something? That decision wasn’t up to her, was it?
Cheng Lifang continued, “I know I was wrong before, and I didn’t accept you, but I have to admit that you do teach the students very well. Dashu has made great progress under your guidance, especially after playing with your son, Fantuan, and Zhuzi. I realized how wrong my methods were in teaching children. Don’t worry, I have read all the notes you taught in the class for the past six months and compared them with my own.”
Cheng Lifang took out a small notebook from the pocket on her pants and handed it to Su Xiaoxiao. “If you don’t believe me, I have organized everything. I will continue teaching the children according to your method in the future. If there is anything I don’t understand, I will consult you and not instill any wrong ideas in them. I really want to go back to teaching, and I hope you can forgive me once and help me this time.”
The so-called ‘no pain, no gain.’ To describe the transformation of Dashu over the past half year, the phrase ‘a complete transformation’ wouldn’t be an exaggeration. I used to think there was nothing wrong with the way I taught children. However, now Dashu has his own opinions. She even tells me, ‘Mom, this is not right. Teacher Su says this and that, and I think that’s the right way.’
At first, she was quite resistant. But with time, Dashu began to do his homework voluntarily, actively review his lessons, and even start doing household chores on his own, organizing his tasks well. She often says, “Fantuan and Zhuzi are also like this.” Dashu became more and more obedient, and Li Mu’s attitude towards her became better and better. She also praised her for teaching her children well and maintaining a harmonious family. The husband and wife’s relationship has improved significantly.
She had to admit that Su Xiaoxiao was right and exceptional—someone worth learning from.
Su Xiaoxiao carefully reviewed Cheng Lifang’s lesson plan, which was probably organized based on Dashu’s classroom notes, supplemented with her own annotations and interesting class knowledge. To be honest, it was a very good lesson plan.
Su Xiaoxiao reexamined Cheng Lifang, who now had a much calmer expression in her eyes. She was no longer as materialistic as before and had shed her previous radical and stubborn tendencies. Besides Su Xiaoxiao, no one understood the progress of the 1st-grade students’ Chinese education better than Cheng Lifang. Cheng Lifang felt as though she had been woken up from a nap.
“I have no objections. You should discuss your ideas with Director Liu. Children of this age are most curious about the world, and it’s essential to instill the right values. If you can’t do that, it’s better to stick to teaching them from the textbooks. At least that won’t lead them astray.”
Cheng Lifang nodded uncontrollably and said, “I understand, I won’t talk nonsense in front of the children. You can ask Fantuan and Zhuzi to supervise me. If there are any signs of going astray, I’ll correct it immediately.”
At this time, the level of education varied greatly, and for a teacher like Cheng Lifang, who had only graduated from junior high school and was teaching elementary school, one couldn’t expect too much. What she was doing was already better than many.
It was quite amusing to think that Cheng Lifang, a teacher, was having Fantuan and Zhuzi supervise her. However, Fantuan and Zhuzi would soon be promoted to the third grade and wouldn’t be able to supervise Cheng Lifang for long.
When Su Xiaoxiao handed in her resignation to Director Liu, she also spoke up for Cheng Lifang. Director Liu said he would consider it.
During the handover period, Director Liu changed Su Xiaoxiao’s class from the first class in the morning to the first class in the afternoon. He expressed deep regret at not being able to retain such an excellent teacher, but he knew that her heart was not in teaching from the beginning. She had made it clear that she was here as a substitute teacher only for her two children. Apart from taking a year’s leave around Chinese New Year, all her work had been voluntary.
Her current physical condition does not allow it, and after giving birth, there is no elderly person at home to take care of the children. Director Liu can only sincerely thank her for her efforts for the school and students during this period and welcome her back at any time.
Only Su Xiaoxiao knew that she would be returning to prepare for the college entrance exam in three years. In the coming years, taking care of her children, studying, and juggling her work in the propaganda department would consume all her time. Once she left the school, besides picking up and dropping off her children, she probably wouldn’t have the chance to return.
After handling these matters, it was almost time for the children to be dismissed.
Su Xiaoxiao said to Han Cheng, “Let’s wait for the children at the gate.”
“The wind is strong here. You should sit inside and wait. “Han Cheng helped her sit inside the car and stood in front of the gate, waiting for the children.
When the school bell rang, a group of enthusiastic little students streamed out. The tall Han Cheng immediately spotted Zhuzi, who was carrying Xiao Doubao on his back, and Fantuan, who was carrying two backpacks, surrounded by a large group of children.
The kids really liked them, chattering and talking non-stop, occasionally teasing Xiao Doubao.
Xiao Doubao shyly smiled, his red, chubby face bathed in the evening sun, looking like a little angel who had wandered into the human world.
Zhuzi, with his slightly exotic and deep features that were hard to notice at first glance, was becoming more handsome. Standing next to the smart and lively Fantuan, it was hard not to notice these three brothers.
After the kids had been in school for a while, it was the first time Han Cheng waited for them at the school gate. “Zhuzi, Fantuan, Xiao Doubao, come over here.”
The three children, who were happily chatting with their classmates, followed the sound and brightened up when they saw their father. Xiao Fantuan ran over with open arms and shouted in excitement, “Dad, are you here to pick us up from school? Where’s Mom?”
Han Cheng opened his arms and lifted the child. He couldn’t help but think to himself, ‘Su Xiaoxiao had taken good care of him; he had really grown heavier.’
Han Cheng ruffled the child’s hair and said, “It’s cold outside, I told her to wait in the car.”
Zhuzi was worried about dropping Xiao Doubao, so he didn’t run too fast, but he still increased his pace. Han Cheng put down Fantuan and took Xiao Doubao from Zhuzi’s back, ruffling Zhuzi’s hair. “You go to the car first; your Aunt Su is in the car.”
After bidding farewell to their classmates, the two older brothers climbed into the backseat of the car. Xiao Doubao now liked his dad a lot and clung to his dad’s neck, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Daddy, let’s go find mommy~~~”
Han Cheng nuzzled the child’s face with his nose and replied, “Sure.”
Han Cheng placed Xiao Doubao in the car, and the two older brothers had already settled on Su Xiaoxiao’s belly, chatting with their little sister.
Xiao Doubao squeezed up to his mother, hugged Su Xiaoxiao’s belly, and pressed his ear against it. “Mom, I miss you so much~~~”
After getting pregnant, Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t carry her child anymore, so she could only pat his head. “Mom thinks that you missed your little brother.”
Xiao Doubao rubbed Su Xiaoxiao’s belly. “I miss him too~~~”
In the driver’s seat, Han Cheng said softly, “Everyone’s settled. Let’s head home.”
The children obediently took their seats, and Fantuan exclaimed, “Having Mom and Dad pick me up from school makes Xiao Fantuan so happy. Let’s go home!”

Redemption arcs in cnovels are not common for non main characters. I’m glad
yes! little drama ofcourse is a must for me for the story not feel flat, but if “the villains” keep finding fault with mc, it is really annoying. I like most of those who was hostile to mc turn to be better and there is a background story as to why they acted like that (except for tong mother and daughter so far).
