Although they didn’t know where the group of wolves making the noise was heading, everyone was prepared.
Grandma Shen and the other three elderly men in the group, along with Xiao Zhang, took Silang and Wulang and hid inside the innermost tent.
The others each took a knife and stood not far from the entrance of the cave, keeping watch.
Even Fei Yanchen and Ji Xun came over.
Fei Da looked at the women in the group, all holding weapons, and thought they were just putting on a show.
He had made up his mind that if the wolves really came, he would swiftly resolve the situation and minimize their injuries.
Others didn’t care about what he was thinking and instead stared eagerly outside the cave.
They didn’t have to wait long before pairs of green eyes peeked out from outside the cave.
In the pitch-black night, they appeared particularly frightening.
Shortly after, the figures of more than a dozen wolves emerged, with one wolf leading the way, its shiny green eyes fixed on the people inside the cave.
“Howl~”
The leader of the pack let out a howl, and the rest of the wolf pack followed suit with continuous howling.
Saliva dripped from their sharp teeth, as they had already regarded the Shen family group as prey.
The Shen family and their companions showed no signs of fear on their faces. Shen Yu’an was even contemplating how to make the wolf meat taste delicious.
There was a wooden board about half the height of a person blocking the entrance of the cave. If the wolf pack wanted to come in, they had to cross the wooden board first.
Therefore, everyone stood five steps behind the wooden board, in a position where they could both defend and attack without endangering those inside.
Fei Da glanced at the members of the Shen family, not understanding why Shen Yu’an, a young girl, was standing side by side with the heir at the forefront.
Fei Da noticed that the heir seemed to have a good relationship with this girl, so he moved forward again, attempting to take the front position as the main force.
As for the people behind, they shouldn’t be too scared to forget to strike back.
The wolf pack started moving, with the lead wolf cautiously advancing a distance before stopping.
Before the people could even breathe a sigh of relief, the wolves all charged towards the entrance of the cave at once.
Fei Da took the opportunity while the lead wolf leaped, attempting to cross over the wooden board, and stabbed it in the vulnerable belly with his sword.
The other wolves behind followed one after another, and Fei Da became a bit anxious. As skilled as he was, he was afraid that there might be an error that could injure the heir.
At that moment, Shen Yu’an, wielding a large knife, swung it towards the neck of another wolf.
The knife got stuck in the wolf’s neck, penetrating deeply.
“Move aside!” Shen Yu’an’s voice was cold.
Fei Yanchen, standing beside her, instinctively stepped back two steps.
Then, Shen Yu’an swiftly pulled the wolf trapped on the knife backward and forcefully flung it forward.
The wolf that was flung out directly hit two wolves that were about to leap inside, forcefully smashing them outward.
Fei Da looked at Shen Yu’an beside him, literally in shock.
He had underestimated her. This young girl was quite skilled!
Shen Yu’an raised the corners of her mouth and casually reminded him, “Uncle, stay focused.”
Fei Da withdrew his gaze and focused entirely on attacking the wolf pack outside.
The Shen family and their group had fought side by side many times before, so their coordination was natural.
In addition, they had Fei Yanchen, the little war god who may have lost his memory but still possessed his skills, and Fei Da, the seasoned military veteran.
Before long, the entire wolf pack was completely eliminated.
The group lifted the wooden board and used their knives to poke at the corpses of the wolves outside, their actions skilled as if it wasn’t their first time doing such a thing.
Fei Da stood in his place, still shaken, thinking about how a wolf had almost pounced on him and bitten his neck just moments ago.
It was the young girl who had diverted her attention and used one leg to kick the wolf away just in time.
He unexpectedly felt a sense of camaraderie, as if he were fighting alongside his brothers on the battlefield.
As for the others, although they couldn’t compare to soldiers on the battlefield, their skills were commendable.
Shen Yu’an knew that Fei Da had underestimated them earlier.
She stopped her actions of poking at the corpses and smiled, saying, “Uncle Fei Da, you also played a part in dealing with these wolves. We’ll share the meat with you~”
Fei Da awkwardly chuckled a few times.
Shen Ming passed by Fei Da’s side, smiling foolishly, and invited, “Brother Fei Da, come on, let’s drag the wolves over and process them. We’ll have meat to eat next.”
“Oh, okay.”
Fei Da watched everyone enthusiastically engaging in the task, even the old lady and a few elderly men came out to help.
He was also infected by the atmosphere and joined the team in processing the wolf meat.
The sky was pitch black, not a single star in sight, indicating that it would probably be another rainy day tomorrow.
They dragged the wolves a distance away for processing, fearing that other wild animals would be attracted by the scent.
After removing the wolf fur and washing it clean, they placed the fur on stones to drain the water.
As for the wolf meat, they quickly rinsed it and carried it into the cave.
It was currently around the time of 6 PM, but it appeared darker earlier due to the gloomy weather.
Since no one felt sleepy, they decided to process the wolf meat inside the cave.
Shen Yu’an was also caught and asked to help. With her strength, chopping the meat didn’t require much effort.
Shen Yu’an thought about having meat to eat the next morning and without hesitation, she took the knife and started chopping swiftly.
“Mother, I’ll slice some meat pieces. Tomorrow, we can have a barbecue,” Shen Yu’an said without stopping her hands.
“Don’t worry, I already know you well,” Song Shi smiled and tapped her finger on Shen Yu’an’s head.
After cutting the meat into pieces, Shen Yu’an also diced some of it.
Thinking about the chili sauce in her storage space, she planned to have her mother cook stir-fried diced meat in the morning.
Everyone worked together, and it took just an hour to clean up and organize everything.
