Hualing leaned on the table with both hands, smiling at Shen Yu’an and said, “No, we haven’t had any outsiders here for a long time.”
She looked a bit puzzled and asked, “But how did you manage to come here? And how did you confirm that your elder brother came to our place?”
Shen Yu’an hesitated for a moment and then replied, “We fell through a cave entrance, and we followed it here. However, we didn’t see anyone else at that exit.”
Hualing was also puzzled and muttered softly, “That doesn’t make sense. If they really fell through that cave entrance, how could they disappear?”
Their people wasn’t originally residing in this place. They migrated to this large forest several decades ago.
Their people were skilled in poison-making and witchcraft. Somehow, rumors spread about their ability to control people using insects.
The righteous individuals outside hunted them down mercilessly, and their population was reduced to only a hundred people. They were forced to hide in this place out of necessity.
After arriving here, their people found this suitable hiding place and dug numerous tunnels as a precaution.
The clan chief also issued a prohibition for the younger generation, forbidding them from venturing out alone or staying outside for too long.
A couple of days ago, while playing in the woods, she saw Fei Yanchen and had the idea of kidnapping him to be her husband.
But before she could send her adorable companions to find him, he unexpectedly arrived on his own.
She twirled her eyes around, wondering if they couldn’t find the person, could they stay here and play with her forever?
The other people in the tribe spent their days either raising insects or raising insects, and no one played with her.
Now that she had finally come across two like-minded individuals, of course, she wanted to keep them here.
So she spoke up, “Our place is quite large, maybe he fell and ran to another location. You can stay at my house and search for him slowly, alright?”
Shen Yu’an and Fei Yanchen had no intention of staying here. If they couldn’t find the person in the village, they would have to search nearby.
While they were talking, a middle-aged man entered with a young man who looked almost identical to Hua Ling.
“Dad, Brother, you’re finally back!” Hua Ling ran over and clung to the middle-aged man’s arm, acting spoiled.
She happily added, “These are the two friends I brought back. She is called Shen Yu’an, and the other one… Oh, what’s your name?”
Hua Ling suddenly realized that she had been too focused on talking to the beautiful sister and had forgotten to ask the other person’s name.
Fei Yanchen remained composed and said, “Fei Yanchen.”
“Hmm, this is my dad, Hua Ji, and my elder brother, Hua Nan. My dad is also the clan leader here,” Hua Ling explained.
Shen Yu’an and Fei Yanchen bowed to Hua Ji and said, “Clan Leader Hua.”
Hua Ji was a middle-aged man with a serious appearance, especially when he had a stern expression, which made him appear even more unfriendly.
Fei Yanchen spoke up, saying, “We apologize for the intrusion. It’s just that our younger brother accidentally ended up here. Have you happened to see a boy in his teens around here?”
Hua Ji thought about the young boy who had been brought back by the clan earlier today. He looked at Fei Yanchen and Shen Yu’an with an unreadable expression.
Instead of answering Fei Yanchen’s question, he asked, “Who are you and how did you find your way here?”
Fei Yanchen then explained how they had arrived here.
They had discovered their own entrance, which could have been guessed even without mentioning it.
Shen Yu’an chimed in, saying, “We didn’t mean to disturb. Once we find our missing person, we’ll leave.”
Hua Ji issued the order for them to leave, his face remaining cold. He said, “We haven’t had outsiders here in a long time. Now, leave.”
Shen Yu’an and Fei Yanchen noticed something peculiar in Hua Ji’s expression.
They decided to bid farewell and leave, planning to sneak back in later to search for their missing person.
Seeing Shen Yu’an and Fei Yanchen about to leave, an anxious Hua Ling stopped them, displeased. She said, “Father, what are you doing? You scared my friends. I already promised to let them stay here for a few days.”
Hua Nan frowned at Hua Ling and reprimanded her, saying, “Stop fooling around.”
Hua Nan and Hua Ling may have the same appearance, but they give off completely different vibes.
Hua Ling appears to be innocent and easygoing, making it easy for people to let their guard down around her. On the other hand, Hua Nan exudes an aggressive aura.
“Hmph.”
Hua Ling is extremely displeased, paying no attention to Hua Ji and Hua Nan. However, her little hands tightly grip onto Shen Yu’an and refuse to let go.
Hua Ling continues to mutter, “I don’t care. An’an is my invited friend, and I want her to stay and play with me. Mother will definitely agree when she knows.”
Shen Yu’an and Fei Yanchen exchange a discreet glance at the doorway, deciding to observe the situation silently.
After all, whether they stay or not doesn’t matter much to them since Shen Erlang is not in this village but somewhere nearby.
Moreover, the Clan Leader Hua’s reaction was clearly off when they mentioned Shen Erlang earlier.
After a prolonged delay, it was already noon.
Not long after, another woman with a beautiful yet fiercely aggressive appearance arrived at the Hua family’s home. She was none other than Hua Ling and Hua Nan’s mother, Hua Yun.
Shen Yu’an found it somewhat strange that they all had the same surname, but he didn’t inquire further out of curiosity.
Shen Yu’an and Fei Yanchen had a meal at the Hua family’s home.
To their astonishment, they discovered that not only did they use insects for brewing tea, but they also used insects for cooking!
