Zheng Wei exclaimed and rolled off the sofa. He lay on the floor, panting heavily, his right hand tightly covering his eyes, his sweaty clothes sticking to his body making him feel itchy and sticky.

He lay on the floor for a long time before slowly realizing that it was just a dream.

Zheng Wei breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that his eyes were still intact, but he still dared not take his hand off his right eye. The dream just now was too real, and he could still feel the nerves around his eyeball pulsing.

Startled, Zheng Wei lay back on the ground and tried to close his eyes and rest. But the corner of his eye caught a glimpse of the sofa he had just slept on, and he immediately jumped up from the ground!

On one side of the sofa backrest stood a row of semi-transparent “people”. They hung their heads in a creepy posture and stared fixedly at Zheng Wei lying on the ground.

Four ghostly humanoid “creatures” floated silently on one side of the sofa, their translucent bodies emitting a grayish-white light in the dark living room.

The ghosts lifted their heads and stared straight at Zheng Wei with their all-black eyes, their pale and translucent faces devoid of any expression.

Zheng Wei crouched down, holding onto the coffee table, with cold sweat all over his body. He looked at the ghost one couch away from him, shocked and terrified.

Standing there were four ghosts, three of whose faces Zheng Wei had seen in photos before.

“…Colleen, Jamie, Paul,” Zheng Wei muttered their names as he looked at the ghosts.

These ghosts were Ms. Hersman’s siblings.

Zheng Wei looked at these ghosts and found that there was also a middle-aged woman he did not recognize among them. She looked somewhat similar to the other three.

She must be their mother, Miranda Hersman, thought Zheng Wei.

The ghosts were all dressed in clothes that looked like nightgowns, each with some dark stains on their robes that looked like dried blood.

These ghosts, still with bloodstains on their clothes, stood in a row beside the couch, looking at Zheng Wei without saying a word or moving.

The man and the four ghosts faced each other across the couch in silence for a while, and Zheng Wei finally couldn’t bear it anymore.

The four ghosts didn’t respond, and they still stood there silently watching Zheng Wei.

If ghosts didn’t come out to harm people, it meant that they had something to tell others.

Sure enough, upon hearing Zheng Wei’s words, the four ghosts started to move, floating in unison towards the staircase. When passing by the staircase, they even stopped to glance at Zheng Wei, signaling him to follow.

Zheng Wei hesitated for a moment at their actions, but in the end, he gathered up his courage and followed them.

The four ghosts stopped at the entrance to the basement. They stood there, turning to face Zheng Wei, with emotionless black eyes.

Being stared at by four pairs of emotionless black eyes, Zheng Wei couldn’t help but shiver. But in order to find out what the ghosts wanted to tell him, he bravely walked over.

As he arrived at the basement door, he was surprised to find that the door was already open. The dark basement was like a monster with an open mouth, making Zheng Wei too scared to look at it for too long.

“What’s down there?” Zheng Wei turned his head away from the ghosts and asked.

The ghosts didn’t speak. They simply raised their arms toward the direction of the basement. “Do you want me to go down there?” Zheng Wei guessed as he saw their movements. The ghosts nodded mechanically.

He lowered his head and looked at the dark basement, and many terrifying scenes related to the basement flashed through his mind, causing him to take a step back involuntarily.

“Um… going down is not impossible, but you have to tell me what’s inside,” Zheng Wei looked at the basement and then shifted his gaze to the four ghosts, “Is there a way to kill the evil spirit inside?”

He wasn’t afraid! He was just cautious, yes, cautious. Zheng Wei glanced nervously at the basement.

“You know that an evil spirit killed you, right? You should have seen it already. Now that the evil spirit has resurrected, I need to find a way to kill it. Do you know how?”

The ghosts had no response to Zheng Wei’s words.

“Okay, okay, I’ll go down then.” Zheng Wei had no choice but to follow their instructions and go to the basement.

When he reached the entrance of the basement, he looked at the dark and lightless basement and swallowed his saliva.

“Should I go down alone?” He turned to look at the ghosts standing motionless at the door, with a hopeful look in his eyes, “Do… you want to come with me?”

Compared to the dark basement that could be hiding anything, these glowing ghosts were like angels in Zheng Wei’s eyes.

But Zheng Wei’s sincere intentions were ultimately misplaced. The angels ignored Zheng Wei’s loving gaze and sent a white light toward him.

The white light attacked Zheng Wei’s face, and he felt a strong force hit his head. His vision blurred, and he tumbled down the stairs of the basement.
