Saving Cannon Fodders with the Villain
Saving Cannon Fodders with the Villain Chapter 16.1

While Zheng Wei was squatting in front of the stairs in the basement, Martin, Allen, and Jin arrived in the living room. They found that Zheng Wei was not there.

“Weird, where is he?” Martin looked around the empty living room with a puzzled expression.

Allen frowned as he looked at the bundle of blankets under the sofa. He had searched every room but hadn’t even found Zheng Wei’s shadow.

“He’s not here.”

“Maybe he went out for a morning run?” Martin suggested.

“It’s already two in the afternoon,” Allen corrected him. “And Zheng doesn’t have the habit of morning exercise.”

Right!, Martin and Jin suddenly remembered that Zheng Wei was a bookworm who didn’t like sports.

“The front door is locked from the inside, so he shouldn’t have gone out,” Jin pointed to the door lock, and the chain buckle was still hanging on the door.

“Then where could he have gone?”

“Maybe he’s missing,” Jin sat on the sofa and said, “He always felt that this place was not right. Maybe his intuition was correct, and he was taken away by ‘those things.'”

“Don’t talk nonsense!” Allen’s expression became serious as he recalled what Zheng Wei had said to him yesterday.

Zheng Wei felt uneasy about this house, and this sentence made Allen somewhat concerned. Although he didn’t want to believe it, his heart vaguely felt that Zheng Wei was telling the truth.

“Hey, buddy, what’s wrong with you?” Jin was startled by his sudden emotional outburst. “I was just joking.”

“Sorry, man, it’s my fault,” Allen also felt that his tone was too heavy. He paused for a moment, then softened his expression and said to Jin, “Don’t make that kind of joke again in the future.”

Jin put away his careless expression and asked, “What’s wrong with you, Allen? Do you really feel…”

“I’m here.” Just as the three were starting to worry about Zheng, his voice came from the stairs. The three turned to see Zheng Wei holding a doll at the staircase.

“Wow, bro,” Jin widened his eyes at Zheng’s disheveled appearance. “Have you been… sleepwalking to the farm?”

Zheng Wei was still wearing his pajamas, and his light-colored clothes were covered in basement dust, making him look dirty.

“Zheng, where have you been?” Allen immediately walked over.

“I found something,” Zheng didn’t answer Allen immediately and waved at them. “Come with me.”

Allen, Martin, and Jin looked at each other and followed Zheng Wei.

The four of them arrived at the basement door, only to find that the door that was tightly locked yesterday was now open.

“How did you open this thing?” Allen asked in surprise as he looked at the open door.

“We’ll talk about that later,” Zheng Wei avoided the question vaguely.

“I found something downstairs, and I think you guys should see it too.”

Saying that, Zheng Wei took the lead and walked into the basement.

The three of them followed immediately and were stunned by the sight of the torture devices.

“I told you there would be something strange in this basement!” Jin was the first to react.

“Martin,” Jin elbowed the dazed Martin beside him. “Your grandma sure knows how to play.” He thought these things were props used to fulfill some special hobby.

“Shut up,” Martin punched Jin.

“These are not props for any kinky stuff,” Zheng Wei walked up to the torture devices and picked up a whip, swinging it experimentally toward the nearby wooden table. The whip made a loud crack as it hit the table, raising a cloud of dust.

“They’re all real and capable of inflicting pain on people.”

The other three people saw the power of the whip and their faces changed.

“If this whip hits someone, it wouldn’t be pleasant,” Allen frowned as he looked at the whip in Zheng Wei’s hand. If this whip hit a person, it would likely cause immediate skin and flesh injuries.

Everyone fell silent, and their gaze unconsciously shifted to Martin. This was Martin’s grandmother’s house. For an elderly person who lived on a rural farm, the things found in this house were a bit abnormal.

“Guns, a torture chamber, what will we find next time?” Jin chuckled a few times and glanced at Martin, “I say, brother, what does your grandmother do?”

“Believe me, Jin,” Martin’s expression was complicated, and his brows furrowed into a knot, “I want to know what all of this is about more than you do.”

“I don’t think this has much to do with Martin’s grandmother,” Zheng Wei threw away the whip in his hand, “It seems that nobody has been in this basement for at least several decades.”

The group looked at each other in silence, all unconsciously thinking about the murder case forty years ago. A closet full of guns, a basement torture chamber, and an unsolved case of mass murder. There must be some connection between these things.

“Martin.”

Just as the group didn’t know what to say, Diane’s voice came from above the basement.

“Martin, dear, where are you guys?”

“Hey, dear,” Martin was standing by the basement stairs, and he looked up and shouted, “We’re here, in the basement.”

“Did you finally manage to open that door?” After a while, Diane’s face appeared at the basement door, and she leaned down to see what was happening below.

“What are you guys doing down there?” The lighting in the basement was not sufficient, and Diane couldn’t see what was happening below, so she came down as well.

Martin timely reached out his hand to her.

“Oh, thank you, dear.” She took Martin’s hand and slowly walked down the stairs. “Did you find anything interesting down here?”

“There’s nothing interesting down here, Diane.” Jin made a face and looked at her. “But there are some scary things.”

“What scary things?” Diane felt a little strange. She looked up at Jin and was about to ask him what he meant when she saw the torture instruments behind him on the wall.
